Hello, Triad Today Viewers and Listeners!

First, thank you so much to Triad Today for allowing us to talk about our love for robotics and how we’re promoting STEAM in the Triad!

The best part of our time in this community has been establishing partnerships with all of the other wonderful organizations here. We wanted to make sure we mentioned them here so you could learn more about them:

  • Inmar donates space, resources, and mentors to FIRST Robotics teams and MRC and is a great advocate for STEAM in our community.

  • Girls on Fire (FIRST Robotics Competition Team 5679) is an all-girl robotics team who meets at MRC. You can learn about the team and their meeting and event schedule on their website and at their open house, at MRC, July 23!

  • Salem Academy has two FIRST Tech Challenge teams, Sisters of the Motherboard and Code Sisters. They also meet and practice at MRC, and Salem’s staff does a great job of promoting STEAM, including hosting an all girl STEAM camp every summer.

  • SciTech is a community enrichment program in STEAM for middle school students in Winston Salem and Forsyth County sponsored by Wake Forest Innovations and Winston-Salem State University. Their students attend robotics and coding classes during the camp every year at MRC.

  • Sawtooth School for Visual Art is a cornerstone of Winston-Salem’s art community and has been branching out into digital art. They host summer camps every year, and this year, MRC will conduct a “robotics and art” course on July 24 and 26 during that week’s camp.

  • Venture Cafe Winston-Salem provided us with a space to discuss the community’s needs for STEAM and a place to announce the opening of our center. You can attend for free almost every Thursday!

  • Mixxer Makerspace is right next door to MRC and has provided necessary space and tools to local robotics teams and many others.
